This mini crochet drawstring pouch is a cute and fun project! It can hold your essentials and secure them with a drawstring closure. It’s great for beginners or non-beginners looking to use up scrap yarn. And since it’s a basic shape, the colors can be altered to create different fruit-themed pouches!
Crochet Airpods Pouch
This little pouch is 8.5 centimeters wide and long, making it the perfect size to store your airpods, earphones, lip balm, or keys!

This is a basic stitch that all crocheters should know and this is a great project to practice it. More seasoned crocheters might like a cute crochet project to use up their scrap yarn.

Scrap Yarn Crochet Project
If you have a lot of leftover yarn from years of crocheting, this is the pattern for you! This project only takes 20 grams of yarn and uses three different colors to allow you to use even 5 grams of leftover yarn!

This pattern works for other yarns, too! I made another pouch with Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in “Green Apple” and “Cafe” and a 5mm hook. This is the same pattern, just with different colorwork and seeds to make a kiwi-themed pouch!

- 20 grams/32 meters of medium weight yarn (Big Twist Cotton in “White” and “Sage” and Capri Eco Cotton in “Pastel Pink”)
- 5mmClover Amour crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Dimensions
Pouch: 8.5 centimeters wide x 8.5 centimeters long (3.35 x 3.35 inches)
Drawstrings: 21 centimeters long (8.27 inches)
Gauge
20 rows of 18 single crochets makes a 10 x 10 centimeter square
Notes and Tips
- This pattern is written using US crochet terms
- This pattern is crocheted in continuous rounds
- Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of every round
- If you dont have stitch markers, bobby pins and safety pins work, too!
Abbreviations
ch = chain
ch-sp = chain-space
rep = repeat
sk = skip
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st = stitch
Pouch
Foundation: With your strawberry color yarn, make a slipknot, ch16
For a wider pouch, do more chains.
Round 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, mark it with a marker, sc across, rotate to work along underside of foundation ch, sc across (30)
Each chain should have two single crochets, one on either side. The stitch marker will mark the first stitch of each round.
Rounds 2-14: sc in st with marker, move marker to new st, sc around until marker
For a taller pouch, do more rounds.
sl st and fasten off
Sewing on Seeds
Note: You can sew the seeds on at the end, but I found it to be a little easier without the leaves and drawstrings in the way.
Cut a strand of your seed color yarn about 100 centimeters/40 inches long.
Sew on little Vs for the seeds of the strawberry. View video tutorial for sewing technique.
Leaves
Flatten the pouch to see which stitch it folds on.
Attach your leaf color yarn to the 3rd st from the st at the fold on the left.
Round 1: *ch4, sk2, sl st,* rep between ** 9 more times (10 ch-sp)
Round 2: ch1, *sc4 in next ch-sp,* rep between ** 9 more times, sl st (40)
Fasten off.
Crocheting Strings
Make a slipknot with a short loose end, ch35, fasten off with a short loose end
For longer drawstrings, do more chains.
Rep once more for a second string.
Dimensions: 21 centimeters long (8.27 inches)
Inserting Drawstrings
Flatten the pouch. There should be 5 ch-sp on either side.
Pull one of your strings halfway through both ch-sp at the end of one side.
Weave one half of the string to the other end by going over and under the slip stitches.
Flip the pouch and repeat with the other half of the string. If the strings aren’t even, tug on the shorter one to even it out.
Tie the ends together with the knot close to the chains.
Repeat with the other string starting in the opposite end. Make sure to always weave it above the first string, so it doesn’t get tangled.
Trim the ends until they are about 1 centimeters long.
