Today is a FUN day! A DOUBLE post day! I love sharing recipes that I have found, modified, and made, but I tend to share a piece at a time (main course, side dish, etc.). This is the best steak recipe!

But not today!

Today you get TWO recipes in TWO posts and TWO times the awesomeness! Did I say two enough?

I love steak, and I found this steak recipe not too long ago via Pinterest – don’t forget to follow me for more recipes and fun! I’ve modified it a bit to fit my taste and level of laziness. I even shared a picture of this recipe the first time I made it on Instagram, so you know if I’m making it more than once AND sharing pictures of it, its good, and its easy.

I was able to make this in true lazy Sam fashion – almost everything I purchased was pre-cut for me, by some miracle, and available in the weights that I needed them in. The Safeway by our place offers pre-sliced steak for fajitas, and I just use it for this recipe! Then I bought pre-sliced mushrooms and I only had to cut an onion up. It was a miracle, and a glorious one at that.

Anyways – on to cooking.

Normally for anything with steak that isn’t on a grill, I use my well-loved cast iron skillet. I feel like it just ups the flavor and fun of the meal, and its easy to clean. Since I made it at my parents house last night, I used my moms cookware, and fell in love with her Calphalon pan, which I kept calling a wok, and still will, but know that it isn’t. Dont @ me.

This entire recipe is basically “toss in and let cook” then “remove, toss something else in and let cook” then “mix all together….let cook”. Its simple, tasty, and even the mini-monster gets in on the game, though she prefers the onions and mushrooms to the steak.

Instructions

  1. If not pre-sliced, slice the beef into thin strips.

  2. Heat a skillet or pan on high heat. When it is REALLY hot, add olive oil and then steak.

  3. Add seasoning: I use garlic salt, Montreal steak seasoning, and regular salt and pepper. You can do this before or during, when I am trying to be quick, I add it while the steak is cooking. When I want it to be a strong hearty flavor, it rub it in before cooking.

  4. Let sear (keep at high temp) for 2 minutes, flip, cook for another minute or two.

  5. Pull steak out, put on plate and set aside.

  6. Add onions and mushrooms with the garlic, let it all cook together, until the onions are soft and almost translucent.

  7. Add steak back into the dish, mix all together and let it all finish cooking.

  8. Serve with a side of veggies.

Recipe Notes

I generally will use my cast iron skillet because I love it so much and I think it adds flavor, but I've cooked this at my moms using a wok, and it worked GREAT! (Photos in wok)
