How to Work for Apple From Home (2024)

Last Updated:

One thing that surprises many new work-at-home job seekers is just how many large, well-known companies hire remote employees. There’s a good chance that when you have made a recent call to customer support that the person on the other end is working from home.

One such well-known company is Apple. In fact, they have been hiring at-home customer support agents for years. This Fortune 500 company has long been on FlexJobs’ Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs. In today’s post, we will be looking at the types of jobs they offer and what you can expect during the application process.

Types of Remote Jobs Offered by Apple

While Apple hires remote workers for a wide variety of positions ranging from management to software development, the most popular remote jobs for newcomers to the work-at-home world are in the customer service and support departments, aka Apple At-Home Advisors.

Apple At-Home Advisor

Apple At-Home Advisors are often the first line of communication for Apple customers in need of help. At-Home Advisors help customers troubleshoot issues they are having with an Apple product, such as an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, etc. Advisors do not need to know about every Apple product. They are typically assigned to a particular line. Support requests are handled by phone and chat making these roles very popular among those seeking a chat job.

Apple offers both full-time and part-time At-Home Advisor positions. They also have a vertical dedicated to college students offering on-campus assistance. All of these positions are remote employees. They come with a benefits package, paid time off, an employee discount, and opportunities for advancement.

Pay is not disclosed on the Apple careers website. However, word on the street is that you can expect it to be more than minimum wage. That may not sound like much, but it certainly can be when it comes to remote jobs. And let’s not forget that benefits can be hard to come by in the work-at-home world.

If you are an Apple junkie already, this can be a very exciting job. Not only do you get to know the ins and outs of current products, but you will also get to learn about upcoming products before anyone else!

Basic Requirements for Most Apple Work-at-Home Jobs

The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to worry about a lot of equipment specifications when applying to work for Apple from home. They will provide you with the iMac and headset you need to perform your job. You do need to have hard-wired, high-speed internet, however. But, you will be reimbursed for that cost as well. You will also need an office with a door that closes, an ergonomic chair, and a desk.

Apple also does not require that you be fully fluent in an iOS device. It helps, of course, to have some knowledge of the iPhone or iMac, but they are willing to train those willing to commit.

Training is nine weeks, but it is paid and can be done from home. You never have to step foot into an Apple store. However, this is live training and not self-paced. You need to be available during those specified timeframes. Missing training sessions is highly frowned upon in the work-at-home environment.

Tips to Applying for a Remote Position With Apple

Apple takes these roles very seriously. It’s important to highlight in your resume and application that you are disciplined, a problem solver, and love helping others. This can be a fast-paced job where you may be juggling more than one customer at a time. Call attention to your ability to multitask and your ability to work well under pressure – if that’s truly the case, of course.

You should also be ready to commit to a schedule. As with many remote opportunities, Apple employees in the At-Home Advisor division may have to work holidays and weekends. Customer service demands never take a break. Companies are often seeking at-home workers who can be available for a variety of shifts.

As when applying for any remote job, it’s important to take the interview and application process seriously. If you don’t follow directions when applying, miss interview times or skip out on training sessions, you may not get a second chance. Remote companies watch closely for signs that a person may not be willing or able to commit to the seriousness of their work-at-home role. Missed shifts and turnover are something they hope to avoid as much as possible.

It’s important to note that remote jobs with Apple are not always available. And don’t be afraid to be open to remote work positions with Apple other than At-Home Advisor. They do have other roles available on occasion within the U.S. and around the world.

You will need to keep an eye on their careers page or watch job boards like Indeed or FlexJobs for openings. And when you see them, apply quickly. Coveted positions like this fill quickly. Have that remote resume ready!
